* Karstic landscape is a special type of landscape developed in places where limestone is abundant. Its main features include caves, turquoise waters and intermittent rivers, among others. (this is a foot note for the paragraph above) This is another of the extraordinary destinations of Puerta al Mundo Maya. The river's turquoise waters run through lush rainforest, cardamom plantations and huge limestone rocks. The more adventurous tourists will want to embark, floating on an inflated tube, through the rapids formed by the rock canyon that shelters the river. This tour is available depending on the depth of the river (we recommend the rainy season between July and February). You will surely also want to enjoy a refreshing experience in the calm turquoise waters of the pond formed downstream on the river delta, either swimming or floating on inflated tubes through the curious rock formations. This place, called "Balneario Ma' Ximón" boasts a beautiful wooden bridge over the river, a huge "rancho" and wooden infrastructure ideal for a comfortable picnic surrounded by nature. This refreshing pond may be fully enjoyed all year long.
