By car

Through Cobán

From Guatemala city take road CA-9 (commonly known as the road to the Atlantic) until you reach the town of El Rancho (km 85). Take a left turn and take the road to Cobán (212 km total). On Cobán's main street, almost in front of the Plaza Magdalena Mall you must take a left detour that takes you past Chisec (286 km total). Before reaching Raxruhá turn   left at the sign to head towards Sayaxché. Cross the Passion River using the ferry and drive straight until you reach Santa Elena and Flores.   The last stretch of the road is not paved but is in good condition.

Through Río Dulce

From Guatemala city take road CA-9 (commonly known as the road to the Atlantic) until you reach the La Ruidosa detour (km 275), near the town of Los Amates. Take a left and drive (over the Río Dulce bridge and later past the town of Poptún) until you reach Santa Elena (488 km total).
